Licensed residential and commercial concrete contractor for slabs, steps, curbs and repairs.
A foundation is the one part of a building you cannot fix later. We build slabs, footings and stem walls to the engineer's plans, inspected and on schedule.
Valley Ridge Concrete pours foundations for custom homes, ADUs and casitas, room additions, garages, metal shops and ag buildings throughout Tulare, Kings and northern Kern counties. We work from your stamped plans and soil report, and we coordinate directly with your builder, the steel supplier and the county or city inspector so nothing waits on us.
Much of Tulare County sits on expansive clay that swells when irrigated and shrinks in the summer. That movement is what cracks poorly built slabs. We follow the soil engineer's recommendations for over-excavation, moisture conditioning and compaction, set rebar and post-tension tendons exactly to plan, and install vapor barriers, sleeves and hold-downs before the pour.
Before any concrete arrives we walk the forms with you or your builder to check dimensions, plumbing locations, anchor bolts and hold-downs against the plans. After the pour we cure the slab properly, which in our climate means keeping it wet or covered so the surface does not dry out in the first critical days.
Typical cost: Residential slab foundations usually cost $9 to $15 per square foot; footings, stem walls and post-tension systems are quoted from the plans.

01
We excavate, moisture-condition and compact the pad to the soil report and set grade stakes.
02
Footings are dug, forms and rebar set, sleeves and bolts placed, then the pre-pour inspection.
03
Concrete is placed, vibrated and finished, then cured and protected before framing starts.
Most single-story homes and ADUs in the valley sit on a slab-on-grade with thickened edge footings. Two-story homes and hillside lots toward Porterville and Springville often need deeper continuous footings, stem walls or a post-tensioned slab. Metal shops and barns need isolated pier footings for the columns and a thicker reinforced floor for equipment. We price each one from the plans, not from a guess.
We are used to being one trade on a bigger schedule. We share our pour date as soon as the inspection is booked, keep the plumber and electrician informed about sleeves and conduit, and leave the pad clean for framers. Owner-builders get the same coordination and a plain-English walk-through of every step.
Monolithic slabs with thickened edges for homes, ADUs and garages.
Continuous footings and stem walls for raised floors and sloped lots.
Pier footings and heavy reinforced floors for metal buildings.
Foundations that tie into an existing house with dowels and matching grade.
“Valley Ridge did the footings and slab for our metal shop. They coordinated with the county inspector and the building supplier, and the anchor bolts lined up perfectly when the steel arrived.”
“Hillside lot, tricky soil report, and an engineer who wanted everything his way. The crew followed the plans to the letter and the slab passed inspection the first time.”
A typical slab-on-grade foundation for an ADU or garage costs $9 to $15 per square foot, including excavation, steel and finishing. Raised foundations with stem walls and post-tensioned slabs are priced from the engineered plans.
Yes. Any foundation for a habitable building, garage or shop in Tulare County or the City of Tulare needs a building permit and inspections. We work from permitted plans and schedule the pre-pour inspection with you.
Framing can usually begin three to seven days after the pour, once the concrete has gained enough strength for layout and bolting. Full strength is reached at 28 days.
Yes, we pour year-round. In summer we start before sunrise, use set-retarding admixtures when needed and cure the slab with water or curing compound to prevent surface cracking.
We also install stamped concrete, stained concrete, patio concrete, concrete walkway, concrete driveway throughout Tulare, Visalia, Hanford, Porterville, Lindsay, Exeter and the rest of Tulare County.
