New driveways, replacements, extensions, RV pads and decorative borders.
A good walkway guides people to your front door, keeps mud out of the house and makes the side yard usable. We form straight, curved and stepped walkways that drain right and stay level.
We pour front entry walks, curved garden paths, side-yard walkways to the trash cans and gate, paths to backyard sheds and casitas, and public sidewalk sections when the city issues a repair notice. Standard residential walks are 4 inches thick with rebar or welded wire, 36 to 48 inches wide, and sloped slightly to one side so water runs off.
Tree roots are the most common reason walkways in Tulare and Visalia heave. When we replace a lifted walk we cut roots back where an arborist says it is safe, install a root barrier, and add steel so the new section resists lifting. For trip hazards on otherwise good concrete, we can sometimes replace a single panel instead of the entire run.
Curves are where walkways get interesting. We lay out curved paths with flexible forms and spray paint so you can see and walk the shape before we commit, and we finish them with a tooled edge and a clean broom texture or a decorative border.
Typical cost: Most concrete walkways cost $9 to $14 per square foot installed; curves, steps and decorative borders add to the price.

03
Concrete is poured, edged, jointed and finished, then forms are pulled.
A medium broom finish is the safest option for front walks that get wet from sprinklers. For more curb appeal, we add a stamped or colored border, a smooth trowel band along the edges, or an exposed aggregate center. Steps along a sloped walk get a consistent rise so no one trips, and we can pour footings for handrails at the same time.
If the City of Tulare or Visalia has sent you a sidewalk repair notice, we can handle the permit, replace the damaged panels to city standards and meet the inspector. We match the existing sidewalk width and score pattern so the repair looks like it belongs there.

“We wanted a curved walkway that didn't look like a sidewalk. They laid out three options with paint on the lawn so we could see them before forming. Friendly crew and they left the yard cleaner than they found it.”
“We were nervous about stamped concrete because the neighbor's patio faded in two summers. Valley Ridge showed us sealed samples, explained the color hardener and came back after 30 days to seal it again. Two years later it still looks new.”
We recommend 42 to 48 inches for a front walk so two people can walk side by side. Side-yard and garden paths can be 30 to 36 inches.
Often, yes. If the surrounding concrete is sound we saw-cut and replace only the lifted panel, dowel it into the neighbors and address the root that caused it.
A typical 4-foot-wide, 40-foot-long front walk costs roughly $1,500 to $2,300. Removal of old concrete, curves and decorative borders add to that.
