Stamped Concrete in Tulare, CA

Stamped ashlar slate patio behind a Tulare home

Stamped Concrete Services by Valley Ridge Concrete

Stamped concrete gives you the look of slate, flagstone or brick at a fraction of the cost of pavers, and it holds up to Central Valley sun when it is colored and sealed correctly.

Our crews have stamped patios, walkways, pool decks and driveway borders all over Tulare County since 2009. Every stamped job starts with the same structural base as our plain slabs: compacted sub-grade, a 4-inch section of 3,500 PSI concrete and #3 rebar on chairs. The decorative work only lasts if the slab under it does.

We offer more than a dozen stamp patterns, including ashlar slate, random stone, European fan, wood plank and cobblestone. Color goes in two layers: an integral color mixed at the plant plus a dry-shake color hardener broadcast on the surface, then a contrasting release agent that settles into the texture. That combination is what keeps stamped concrete from looking flat or fading to pink after a few summers.

Because July afternoons in Tulare regularly pass 100 degrees, we schedule decorative pours for first light, use evaporation retarder on the surface and keep extra finishers on site so the whole slab is stamped at the same moisture. You get an even texture from one end of the patio to the other.

Stamp, Seal & Cure

Color hardener, release and stamps are applied, joints are cut, and a UV-stable sealer goes on after curing.

Patterns, Colors and Finishes We Install

Popular choices in the South Valley are ashlar slate in a sandstone or desert tan base with a charcoal release, random stone for pool decks, and wood plank borders around a broom-finish center for budget-friendly drama. We can also stamp only the border of a driveway or walkway, which gives curb appeal without the full decorative price. Every stamped surface gets a slip-resistant additive in the sealer when it is near a pool or an entry step.

Keeping Stamped Concrete Looking New

Stamped concrete is low maintenance, not no maintenance. We recommend washing it twice a year and resealing every two to three years, which is the main thing that protects the color from UV and from sprinkler hard-water stains. We offer resealing for patios we poured and for existing stamped concrete that has gone dull or white.

Stamped Patios

Covered and open patios in slate, flagstone or brick patterns with matching steps.

Pool Decks

Textured, slip-resistant stamped decks with cool-toned colors and coping borders.

Walkways & Entries

Front walks, porches and entry landings that tie into your home's exterior.

Resealing & Recolor

Cleaning, color refresh and new sealer for faded stamped concrete.

What Customers Say About Our Stamped Concrete

Stamped patio by Valley Ridge Concrete in Tulare

Hector A.

Stamped patio · Tulare, CA

“We were nervous about stamped concrete because the neighbor's patio faded in two summers. Valley Ridge showed us sealed samples, explained the color hardener and came back after 30 days to seal it again. Two years later it still looks new.”

Front walkway by Valley Ridge Concrete in Exeter

Irene S.

Front walkway · Exeter, CA

“We wanted a curved walkway that didn't look like a sidewalk. They laid out three options with paint on the lawn so we could see them before forming. Friendly crew and they left the yard cleaner than they found it.”

Stamped Concrete FAQ

Most stamped patios and walkways we install cost $14 to $22 per square foot, including base preparation, rebar, color, stamping and the first coat of sealer. Border-only stamping on a broom-finish slab is closer to $10 to $13 per square foot.

Sealed stamped concrete can be slick when wet, so we add a non-slip grit to the sealer on pool decks, steps and entries. The texture of most stone patterns also helps traction.

A properly reinforced and sealed stamped slab typically lasts 25 years or more. The color and sheen stay best when the sealer is renewed every two to three years.

All concrete can crack. We control it with compacted base, rebar and saw-cut joints placed inside the pattern lines so they are hard to see.

We also install stained concrete, concrete foundation, patio concrete, concrete walkway, concrete driveway throughout Tulare, Visalia, Hanford, Porterville, Lindsay, Exeter and the rest of Tulare County.
