A 1970s ranch home in Visalia had a driveway broken up by a mature ash tree and a front walk with several trip hazards. We removed all of the old concrete, cut and barriered the roots, and replaced the driveway, front walk and side-yard path in phases so the family could still park every night.
New sections are 4 inches thick at the walks and 5 inches at the driveway with #3 rebar at 18 inches on center. A new walkway from the driveway to the porch was widened to 48 inches.
We coordinated with the city for the approach and sidewalk panels at the street and passed the encroachment inspection on the first visit.
